Gov Wike calls for Amendment of UBE Act.

Governor WIKE made the call when he received members of the House of Representatives Committee on Basic Education and Services at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

The Governor also used the occasion to announce that the state government would begin the rehabilitation of one hundred and seventy-four primary schools in the state.

WIKE also informed the visitors that the immediate past administration in Rivers State did not access UBEC funds because of nonpayment of counterpart funding.

The Governor said he has been able to approve the release of counterpart funding, which opened the door to access five point six billion naira from UBEB.

A statement from the Government House disclosed that members of the House of Representatives were led by the Chairman of the Committee on Basic Education and Services, ZAKARI MOHAMNED.
