The governor gave the assurance after some security operatives attempted to take over the Edo state House of Assembly complex in Benin City.
The Governor who arrived at the Assembly complex alongside his supporters assured members of the Assembly of adequate protection as the carry on with their duties.
Speaking shortly after arriving at the Assembly complex, the speaker of House of Assembly, Francis Okiye said they would reject any move to by security agents to take over the institution.
Dozens of the security officials had stormed the Assembly complex while patrol vehicles were stationed there.
Reports say the police took the action following a reported threat of an attack on the facility.
The police officers were led to the Assembly by a Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ayoola Ajala.
