The Chairman of the seven-man Caretaker Committee of the APC in the state, Chairman Chief Tony Okocha, also accused the Fubara administration for purportedly deviating from its consolidation agenda, accusing it of focusing on what it characterized as extravagant victory thanksgiving events across the twenty-three local government areas of the state.
Okocha during a media briefing at the Party’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt asserted that the governor has not effectively utilized the substantial monthly funds received from federal allocations.
In a stern warning, Okocha emphasized that the APC, as a significant opposition force in the state, will not idly stand by while the governor allegedly directs funds intended for the state’s development to his associates.
Okocha further accused the governor of violating the constitution by neglecting the issue of local government elections, abandoning the State Executive Council meetings, and refusal to collaborate with members of the Rivers State House of Assembly because of their affiliation with The APC.
Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that Okocha also took a swipe at the governor for remarks during the funeral of the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, his wife, and son over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the special adviser to Governor Siminalayi Fubara on political affairs and strategy, Darlington Orji has berated the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives in Rivers State, Tony Okocha for lacking in what he described as proper information.
Orji, in an interview with newsmen said Okocha does not understand the workings of government, clarifying that local government authorities in the state have paid workers salaries.
He described the APC chairman as one of Rivers indigenes who deliberately refused to see the developmental strides of the state governor.
Orji noted that there is nothing wrong with criticizing the government, but advised Okocha to be constructive when doing so.
