As part of the implementation process, the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture is set to commence comprehensive fourteen-day verification, validation, and registration exercise for all poultry farmers, fish farmers, slaughterhouses, and frozen foods companies operating in the state.
The exercise will commence on Wednesday, the 27th of March, 2024, and conclude on Monday, the 15th of April, 2024.
Poultry farmers, fish farmers, slaughterhouses, and frozen foods companies are urged to present themselves at the Rivers State Ministry of Agriculture during the stipulated period for verification, validation, and registration.
The primary objective of this exercise is to establish a robust database of all relevant stakeholders, enabling the Ministry to implement effective monitoring and inspection protocols to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Upon successful registration, participants will receive a certificate of registration and verification, affirming their compliance with food safety standards.
In a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Agriculture, Victor Kii, failure to register within the specified timeframe will result in non-permission to operate within the state, as it indicates a disregard for regulatory guidelines aimed at upholding health standards and food safety protocols.
