The incident has forces Ghana’s electoral commission to abandon electronic transmission of results.
Reports from the capital Accra said the commission will now use manual verification of the results in the tightly contested election.
Meanwhile; Ghana’s main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party, is facing criticism for claiming victory in the presidential election yesterday.
Twenty-four hours after the end of voting, the NPP campaign chief, PETER MAC MANU, called a press conference where he asked incumbent President JOHN MAHAMA to concede defeat to his main contender, NANA AKUFO-ADDO.
MAC MANU said from the party’s parallel counting of results from across the country, the NPP had secured forty-four percent out of eighty percent counted votes.
However, the Electoral Commission said only the chairperson is empowered by law to declare the certified results of the presidential elections.
