Fubara Presents N1.854tn 2026 Budget to Rivers Assembly

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly, proposing a budget of N1.854 trillion for the next fiscal year.

The proposal, titled “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” is 24.49 per cent higher than the 2025 appropriation. Governor Fubara said the increase was driven by improved receipts from the Federation Account Allocation Committee and sustained economic growth. The budget projects internally generated revenue of N487.6 billion, FAAC receipts of N936.1 billion and capital receipts of N382.5 billion.

For expenditure, the governor proposed N413.1 billion for recurrent spending, including N154.7 billion for salaries, N15.2 billion for new recruitment, N36.7 billion for overheads of ministries, departments and agencies, N20 billion each for gratuities and pensions, and N5 billion for insurance. Fubara also announced a 50 per cent increase in overhead allocations to MDAs to address rising operational costs and clear outstanding salary arrears owed to civil servants.
