Turkey’s disaster agency said more than one thousand, five hundred people died there, while it is estimated that eight hundred and ten people died in Syria.
Those numbers are still expected to rise as rescuers comb through mountains of rubble in freezing, snowy weather.
Turkey’s president, Recep Erdogan said it is the country’s worst disaster in decades.
