France justice minister resigns amid claims of political sleaze, impending cabinet reshuffle.

BAYROU reportedly handed in his resignation hours before President EMMANUEL MACRON is expected to announce changes in his government.

BAYROU’s exit completes the loss of all three cabinet slots held by the MoDem centrist party, which is allied to President MACRON’s La République en Marche.

The Defence Minister, SYLVIE GOULARD was the first MoDem minister to hand in her resignation on Tuesday, followed by European Affairs Minister MARIELLE DE SARNEZ.

President MACRON came to power with a promise to fight political sleaze, but the MoDem is facing an inquiry into claims that it used European Union funds to pay party workers.
