Fear has gripped residents of Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State following a violent attack that reportedly claimed the lives of four persons, including a commander of the Organized Security Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC).
The deceased OSPAC operative, identified as Boski, was the Commander of the OSPAC Omoku Unit. Three women were also reportedly killed in the incident, while two other victims sustained critical injuries and are receiving treatment at a hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
A resident, who spoke to Today FM, said the attack has thrown the community into panic, forcing many residents to remain indoors over fears of further violence. The resident added that usually busy streets in Omoku have become deserted, with businesses closing early and movement across the town significantly reduced.
The incident has heightened concerns over security in the area, with residents calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible and restore peace to the community.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not officially confirmed the reported casualty figures or disclosed whether any arrests had been made.
