Former NNPC boss orderd to forfeit $9.7m,others recovered from him.

Justice ZAINAB ABUBAKAR of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano granted the order following an exparte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

 

Counsel to the EFCC, SALIHU SANI had requested the court to order the respondent to forfeit the monies in the custody of the EFCC to the Federal Government, which was granted by Justice ZAINAB ABUBAKAR.

 

In a statement confirming the development, the spokesman for the EFCC, WILSON UWUJAREN, recalled that operatives of the anti-graft agency had on 3rd of February stormed a building belonging to the former NNPC boss and recovered the huge stash of cash in a fireproof safe. 

 

The statement further noted that ANDREW YAKUBU reported to the EFCC on 8th of February at its Kano Zonal Office where he admitted ownership of both the house and the recovered money. 

 

WILSON UWUJAREN disclosed that YAKUBU was still in custody and is assisting in ongoing investigation.
