Speaking in an interview with Today FM, Atata clarified that while they are actively trying to attract the governor and his supporters to the party to strengthen their position for the upcoming state elections, Fubara is not currently a member of APP.
Atata, who recently resigned as the state chairman of APP to become the Vice Chairman for the South-South Zone, refuted claims that he sold the party to Governor Fubara or anyone else, as insinuated.
He also emphasized that Rivers State is not Nyesom Wike’s private estate and expressed confidence that APP is well-prepared to win the upcoming elections with support behind the current APP chairman in the state, Sunny Wokeoro.
Atata further revealed that APP has over four hundred candidates for the upcoming October 5th local government election who have picked up forms to contest, noting that the party remains open to new members interested in joining.
