A wave of foreign-based Nigerian athletes, including national champions and Olympians, have arrived in Lagos ahead of the 2025 National Trials, set to begin on Friday at the Yabatech Sports Complex.
PUNCH Sports Extra confirmed on Tuesday that several top athletes, including 2024 Olympic semi-finalist Kanyinsola Ajayi, NCAA 800m standout Ramat Jimoh, and sprint hurdler Adaobi Tabugbo, have been spotted fine-tuning their preparations at the Yaba facility. World record holder Tobi Amusan was also seen training as anticipation builds for a highly competitive event.
The influx of elite athletes is expected to significantly raise the level of competition at the trials, which will serve as a key platform for national team selection ahead of international engagements.
