Flamingos Arrive in Lomé Ahead of Crucial U-17 World Cup Qualifier Against Benin

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Lomé, Togo, ahead of their decisive second-leg clash against Benin Republic in the final qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The team and officials landed safely at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport before checking into their hotel, where they will prepare for Saturday’s crucial encounter.

Head coach Akeem Busari’s side held their first training session upon arrival as they intensified preparations for the return leg.

The Flamingos head into the match with a slim 3-2 advantage after defeating Benin’s Young Amazons in the first leg at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.

Queen Joseph, Shakirat Moshood Adegbuyi and Ifeanyi Kindness scored Nigeria’s goals in the opening fixture, while Benin remain in contention after scoring two valuable away goals.

The winner on aggregate will secure one of Africa’s qualification spots for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, scheduled to take place in Morocco later this year. (completesports.com)
