Final-Year Students Of Rivers State University Protest Against ‘No Fees

The students who marched from the school entrance to the Rivers state government House expressed displeasure with the way the management of the university is treating them.

The aggrieved students mostly those in their final year while speaking to Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor pleaded with the school management to allow them pay their fees by installments and write their examinations.

They said the school management can still collect their fees during their final clearance and the collection of results.

The students while calling on Rivers State governor NYESOM WIKE to intervene to enable them take part in the ongoing examination, said it will be wrong for them to be made to spend an extra year in the university.

A Deputy Commissioner of Police who addressed the protesting students assured that the university management will respond to them.

Meanwhile; the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has questioned the rationale behind Governor Nyesom Wike’s delay in assisting the students of Rivers State University who are affected by the No School Fees No Exam policy of the school management.

The state Publicity Secretary of the APC, Darlington Nwauju who raised the questions demanded to know why a state governor who can afford what he described as unsolicited external charities that have cost the state two point one billion naira in the past fifteen months, cannot extend such charities to Rivers students.
