The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this after yesterday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
Reacting to this, some residents of Port Harcourt criticized the minister’s claim, describing it as an intervention without tangible impact and a misplaced priority by the government.
Speaking in an interview with Today FM’s Odinakachi Celestine, the residents argued that given the level of hunger in the country, such action will have no significant impact on combating food insecurity.
They alleged that the plan is a plot by the government and its associates to obtain free bags of rice under the guise of distributing them to the poor masses, and called for the government to rather develop better plans to boost agricultural production and address food insecurity issues.
