The lawsuit filed by FESTUS OGWUCHE arose from a directive by the National Broadcasting Commission during the 2015 general election.
It is reaction to a directive by the NBC to broadcast stations to submit political materials for vetting, twenty-four-hours before broadcast, which OGWUCHE felt was an infringement on the right to freedom of expression.
OGWUCHE said the matter has been slated for hearing in October by the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Abuja when the judiciary resumes from its annual vacation.
The Port Harcourt-based lawyer is standing on the lawsuit to seek the enforcement of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including the right to freedom of expression, among others.
