This followed the decision by leaders of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, to shun the second round of talks convened by the Ministers of Labour and Employment, and Education.
According to a statement circulated to news organizations, ASUU said it had reviewed the offers made by government and came up with a proposal for consideration by the government before they can return to negotiations.
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Doctor CHRIS NGIGE confirmed the development while briefing newsmen after the botched meeting in Abuja.
Meanwhile; CLARA DIKE who is the Special Adviser to the Labour Minister said another meeting has been tentatively scheduled for tomorrow, and expressed the hope that ASUU leaders would attend.
Responding to questions during an interview on television, DIKE observed that ASUU had not fully abided by the rules of industrial relations in embarking on its strike.
CLARA DIKE is the Special Adviser to the Minister of Labour and Employment.
