The information was made public in a circular to all federal Ministries Departments and Agencies, which was signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, WINIFRED OYO-ITA.
A statement released by the Director of Communication in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, HARUNA IMRANA said the suspension of the tenure policy is based on a directive from President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.
However; it was gathered that the suspended tenure policy may not affect political office holders but limited to only mainstream officers in the service.
The tenure policy was introduced by late President UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA in 2009, and it provided four-year tenure for permanent secretaries in the Federal Civil Service, that can only be renewed once.
