Our correspondent JAMES IGAH in Abuja reports that President MUHAMMADU BUHARI was represented by the Vice president YEMI OSINBANJO at the one day summit organized by member states of the African Union.
The Vice President stated that the huge economic activities and benefits derivable from around the waters is jeopardized by maritime crimes such as piracy and smuggling, noting that ninety per cent of African trade is by Sea which makes the charter very important.
The Vice president added that the blue economy is one of the major areas of focus of the charter.
