The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU gave this indication in a statement obtained by our Abuja correspondent, JAMES IGAH.
According to the statement; the twenty-one freed girls are now in the custody of the Department of State Security Service.
GARBA SHEHU also said the Director-General of DSS, LAWAL DAURA has briefed President MUHAMMADU BUHARI on the release of the Chibok girls.
He said the release of the girls in small number is the outcome of negotiations with the Boko Haram, which was facilitated by the International Red Cross and the Swiss government.
The negotiations are expected to continue for the release of more of the abducted schoolgirls, while President BUHARI has welcomed the development.
President BUHARI also cautioned the negotiators to be mindful of the fact that Boko Haram terrorists have killed more than thirty thousand fellow citizens.
The Presidential spokesman said the freed girls would soon be handed over to Vice President, YEMI OSINBAJO as President BUHARI travels to Germany.
He also said the names of the released girls would soon be made public.
