Federal Government Faults Rumours about Soldiers Vaccinating Children in Schools

The government also expressed regret about the panic over the rumours, which forced parents to withdraw their children from schools for fear of alleged monkey pox vaccination.
The Minister of Health, Professor ISAAC ADEWOLE said government was making efforts to control the agitation created by the special military exercises in the South-South and South-East regions of the country.
Professor ADEWOLE also said the government was particularly worried about the reports, insisting that government will not conduct such campaigns without involving state governments.
He said vaccination campaigns were being conducted only in Kwara and Kogi states involving yellow fever vaccination, and in Borno State where an outbreak of cholera was reported.
The Health Minister also confirmed seventy four suspected cases of monkey pox virus in eleven states in the country.
The Minister made the disclosures to State House correspondents at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
