Farah Dagogo Insists Suspension of Rivers Governor Tinubu’s Action Is Illegal; Court Adjourns Case to August 2025

A former federal lawmaker representing Bonny/Degema Federal Constituency, Farah Dagogo, has reiterated that the suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara by President Bola Tinubu is illegal.

Speaking on Thursday at the resumed hearing of the case at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Dagogo announced his intention to seek legal redress against the suspension. He contended that the action taken by the President violates established legal protocols.

Following a request for an extension of time by lawyers representing Dagogo, Justice James Omotosho, the presiding judge, adjourned the case until August 9, 2025. The judge explained that the extension was granted to allow the parties involved to regularize their files and prepare adequately for the next hearing.

After the session, Babafemi Adegbite, a member of Dagogo’s legal team, told journalists that their client is challenging the legality of the State of Emergency declared on Rivers State by President Tinubu.

It is noteworthy that the initial hearing date was set for May 26, 2025. However, the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, ordered that all cases challenging the State of Emergency in Rivers State be transferred to Abuja for consolidated proceedings.
