The threat was issued a letter by FANI-KAYODE’s lawyer, WALE BALOGUN, also demanding an apology from AMAECHI over alleged false and slanderous comments that disparaged his client.
According to the letter by BALOGUN, the Transportation Minister claimed on a television channel that two billion naira was allegedly transferred by a former Governor of Rivers State to the Aviation Ministry to fix the runway of the Port Harcourt Airport while FANI KAYODE was in office as Minister.
You would recall that AMAECHI, who is a former Governor of Rivers State, had also recently threatened to file defamation lawsuit against the PDP chieftain and former Aviation Minister, FEMI FANI-KAYODE.
The Transportation Minister’s threat was against FANI-KAYODE’s alleged comments linking him to the multibillion naira in local and foreign currencies that was recovered from the Ikoyi luxury apartment in Lagos.
AMAECHI, through his lawyer, LATEEF FAGBEMI, demanded an apology from FANI-KAYODE as well as seven hundred and fifty million naira in compensation for the wrongful claim against him.
AMAECHI’s defamation lawsuit threat was also directed to one LERE OLAYINKA, who is an aide to Ekiti State Governor, AYODELE FAYOSE, with a demand for apology and five hundred million naira in damages.
