Teachers of Demonstration Schools in Rivers state, as well as some Lecturers in Ken-Soro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, have called on the new administration to pay them their salaries owed for over seven years, which Wike refused to pay during his tenure as Governor.
A teacher from one of the Demonstration Schools in the state, Kennedy Chieme, in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth, appealed to the new government to obey the Industrial Court order by paying them their entitlements.
Also, a lecturer from Ken-Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Collins Amuen, said since 2015, when they were employed by the Rotimi Amaechi administration, the Rivers State Government has refused to pay them their salaries.
Recall that the Demonstration School teachers had taken the state government to court after WIKE stopped their payment in February 2016 and had won the case, but the immediate-past governor refused to comply with the directive of the court.
