Executive of Kenya’s Election Board offered to take Leave, six Days to Presidential Rerun

CHILOBA has been under pressure to resign following irregularities in the annulled election of 8th August, based on which the Supreme Court ordered a fresh vote.
EZRA CHILOBA said he had taken a personal decision to take leave in light of the opposition’s demands, without giving more details.
He said all arrangements for the repeat poll were in place, as ordered by the Supreme Court.
The resignation of CHILOBA was one of several demands made by the opposition, and the failure to meet the demands forced the opposition candidate, RAILA ODINGA to announce his withdrawal from the election.
ODINGA has also called nationwide demonstrations on the day of the election on Thursday next, while a crisis talk called by Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission was boycotted by President UHURU KENYATTA.
After meeting with the chairman of the election board, WAFULA CHEBUKATI, ODINGA suggested the opposition could review its boycott if there were serious consultations and serious reforms.
