Evan Ferguson Joins Roma on Season-Long Loan from Brighton

Brighton striker Evan Ferguson has completed a season-long loan move to Italian Serie A side AS Roma as he looks to revive his career following a difficult spell at the Premier League club.

The Republic of Ireland international has struggled with injuries and a dip in form over the past 18 months, which saw him fall down the pecking order at Brighton. His move to Roma offers a fresh start and the possibility of regular playing time in a competitive league, as well as a chance to feature in European competitions.

“Evan had a challenging period across the past season and a half, and it has been one disrupted by niggling injury issues,” said Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler. “He really wants to play regularly, and this is an exciting opportunity in a strong league and with the prospect of European football.”

Ferguson spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United but made just eight appearances, with only one start under then-manager Graham Potter.

Ahead of the official announcement, Ferguson was spotted on social media signing autographs and greeting Roma fans, signalling his enthusiasm for the move.
