Monday evening’s attack at a Christmas market killed twelve people and injured forty-nine others.
Reports say twenty-four-year-old ANIS AMRI had been under surveillance earlier this year on suspicion of planning a robbery in order to pay for guns but the surveillance was lifted for lack of evidence.
Before entering Germany, ANIS AMRI had served four years for arson in Italy.
Chancellor ANGELA MERKEL has held a security cabinet meeting to discuss the investigation into the attack.
