Embattled National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, OLISA METUH, is to spend the weekend in Kuje Prison in Abuja.
Justice ABANG OBONG of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ordered the remand of OLISA METUH in prison custody after he was arraigned on a seven-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.METUH pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him, but an oral application for bail by his counsel, IFEDAYO ADEDIPE, was turned down by the Presiding Judge.Justice OBONG directed the counsel to file a proper bail application before it would be entertained, just as he ordered the transfer of METUH from EFCC custody to the Kuje Prison. You will recall that METUH was arrested by the EFCC on 4th of January in connection with investigations into the so-called ‘Armsgate” scandal, which involves the disbursement of funds meant for arms purchase by former National Security Adviser, SAMBO DASUKI.
