EFCC arraign man over impersonating Femi Adesina.

OYOVWEYHO was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before Justice Z.B ABUBAKAR of the Federal High Court sitting Kano on a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretence. 

 

The EFCC alleged that OYOVWEYHO impersonated the Presidential spokesman and attempted to obtain the sum of three hundred thousand naira from DALHATU MOHAMMED GALADANCI; a professor of Economics at the Bayero University, Kano.

 

The EFCC said it received a complaint against OYOVWEYHO after he allegedly contacted Professor GALADANCI to fraudulently claim that his name had been forwarded for appointment in the presidency.

 

It was further alleged that the defendant asked the professor to make payment of three hundred thousand naira to facilitate his appointment to Nigeria Port Authority or the Nigerian Railway Cooperation and Rural Electrification.

 

After the charges were read to him, OYOVWEYHO pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of five hundred thousand naira and two sureties in like sum.  

 

The case has been adjourned to 11th April for commencement of trial, while the defendant was ordered to remain in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
