DSS Confirms arrest of JNDLF leader JONES ABIRI

According to a statement released by DSS, the suspect identified as JONES ABIRI and also goes by the alias General AKOTEBE DARIKORO, was arrested in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on Thursday last week.

The DSS claims that ABIRI who also operates under the title “General-Kill and Bury” has been carrying out separatist activities in connivance with other criminal gangs in the Niger Delta region.

The suspect is blamed for the vandalism of Nigeria Agip Oil Company trunk line at Ogboinbiri, in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

He is also believed to have carried out the bombing of oil pipeline belonging to Shell Development Company at Brass creek also in Bayelsa State on 8th July.

Furthermore; the DSS claims that the suspected JNDLF militant leader had sent threat messages to managements of Agip and Shell demanding the payment of five hundred million naira, and two hundred and fifty million naira respectively.

General DARIKORO is also alleged to be the mastermind of the recent speculation of a planned coup to overthrow President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

DSS spokesman, TONY OPUIYO also confirmed the arrest of another suspected Niger Delta militant in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, who was identified as STEPHEN MAMAYEBO.

OPUIYO said MAMAYEBO was arrested in connection with the kidnap of an expatriate staff of Setraco Construction Company and subsequent murder of two soldiers, namely Sergeant GARBA UMAR and Private BASHIR KABIRU, along Ogbia-Nembe road on 5th April this year.

The periodic review of operations of DSS agents across Nigeria also covered the arrest of one CHUKWUNYERE AUSTIN OKWAA for allegedly issuing death threats against the outgoing Acting-Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, IBIM SEMENITARI.

The DSS statement disclosed that OKWAA was picked up last Friday at a Petrol Filling Station, along Aba road in Port Harcourt.

In other parts of the country, DSS agents nabbed ISMAILA SHUAIBU, KABIRU NASIRU and INUSA ABDULLAHI on suspicion of kidnapping during a raid at a mosque along Kaduna-Zaria Highway in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

One BULAMA MOHAMMED RAMAT was picked up last Thursday at Jabi Motor Park in Abuja for allegedly plotting terror attack in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs with other Boko Haram extremists still at large.

In Kano State; a DSS raid on criminal hide-outs behind Ado Bayero Quarters at Naibawa area of Kumbotso Local Government Area led to the recovery of three firearms and forty rounds of live ammunition.
