Dogara assures readiness of National Assembly to domesticate Kampala Convention Treaty on Internally Displaced Persons.

DOGARA gave the assurance when he received a delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross at his office in Abuja.

 

 

The Speaker said the Federal Government was working seriously to ensure the speedy resettlement of refugees and displaced persons, especially in the Boko Haram ravaged North-East of Nigeria.

 

 

He informed the delegation that the Kampala Convention Treaty on IDPs would be domesticated as soon as it is transmitted to the National Assembly by the Executive arm of the Federal Government.

 

 

 

Earlier his remarks; the Head of Mission of the International Red Cross in Nigeria, ELOI FILLION, said the organization was ready to provide technical support to enhance the capacity of the legislature to draft a bill on the Kampala Convention Treaty on IDPs.

 

 

 

The ICRC representatives also presented a report of a study conducted in the three North-Eastern states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
