Defence Minister Hails Tinubu Over Military Salary Increase

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a salary increase of between 30 and 80 per cent for personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Leah Katung-Babatunde, the minister described the approval as a significant boost to the welfare and morale of military personnel.

According to the statement, the new salary structure will take effect from September 1, 2026, and is expected to benefit about 250,000 personnel across the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The Defence Minister said the salary review reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare of members of the Armed Forces and enhancing their motivation in the discharge of their duties.
