Officials said at least two hundred and forty-seven dead bodies have been recovered, as thousands of rescuers continue to dig through ruble of collapsed structures in the hope of finding survivors.
Dozens are believed trapped in ruined Amatrice, Accumoli and Pescara del Tronto, in mountainous central Italy.
