Dalung Urges Fubara to Quit Politics After Tenure, Blames Simplicity for Political Setbacks

A prominent member of the newly formed political coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Solomon Dalung, has called on the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, to consider bowing out of active politics at the end of his tenure.

Dalung, a former Minister of Youth and Sports, made the statement while addressing reporters on the evolving political dynamics in Rivers State and the broader national landscape. While he acknowledged Governor Fubara’s integrity and personal character, Dalung said the governor lacks the resilience and strategic savvy needed to navigate Nigeria’s politically charged environment.

“Governor Fubara’s simplicity and nativity have left him exposed to political manipulation,” Dalung remarked. “He means well, but this is not an environment for the politically naïve.”

Dalung also claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was able to fuel the political unrest in Rivers State due to what he described as the “absence of a viable and coordinated opposition” in the region.

Speaking on the potential of the new ADC-led coalition to challenge the status quo ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dalung was confident. “When the time comes, neither President Tinubu nor INEC will withstand the collective will of the Nigerian people,” he declared.

The remarks come amid deepening political tensions in Rivers State following Governor Fubara’s suspension and ongoing battles for control within the state’s political hierarchy.

Dalung’s comments are the latest in a series of high-profile reactions as Nigeria’s political terrain gears up for what promises to be a turbulent election season.
