The Director General of NIMASA, DAKUKU PETERSIDE made the pledge when the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General PAUL BOROH led his team on a courtesy visit to his NIMASA Head Office in Lagos.

PETERSIDE said NIMASA and the Presidential Amnesty Programme are strategic partners in ensuring lasting peace in the Niger Delta region.

He stressed the need to sustain the pursuit of maritime security in the Niger Delta belt, stressing that without that, shipping activities cannot thrive in the coastal region.

PETERSIDE noted that the core mandate of both government bodies is to ensure that young men and women who were agitating are rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society.

In his remarks; Brigadier General PAUL BOROH called for collaboration in the resettlement and reintegration of the ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region.

BOROH noted that a number of the repentant militants have gone through various courses relating to the maritime industry.

He appealed to the management of NIMISA to assist in engaging such persons as a means to reintegrate them into the society.
