Customs to clampdown smuggled vehicles.

To this end, the Comptroller General of Customs, retired Colonel HAMEED IBRAHIM ALI, has approved a one-month period of grace for owners of smuggled vehicles to upgrade their record with the customs by paying the appropriate duty charges for such vehicles.

 

 

The period of grace is between Monday 13th March and Wednesday12th April, after which customs officials would swoop on defaulting owners of smuggled vehicles.

 

 

The Comptroller General of Customs said all private car owners who are not sure of the authenticity of their vehicles customs documents can approach the Zonal Offices in Lagos, Kaduna, Port Harcourt and Bauchi for verification.

 

 

The information from the Nigeria Customs Service was contained in a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer, JOSEPH ATTAH, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs.
