Today FM gathered that the victims including two soldiers and four civilians who were working for the military personnel died after fire from crude oil engulfed a vehicle they were trying to pull out from the mud inside the forest.
The soldiers who were reported to be attached to operatives of Operation Steal Waters hired some civilians to assist them in search of illegal oil bunkering sites when their vehicle got stuck at a bad spot.
An indigene of Ibaa community who confirmed the incident to Today FM disclosed that the driver of the vehicle in an attempt to drive out the car from the bad spot, increased acceleration which ignited the fire that led to the inferno.
Several others who were injured in the fire were rushed to the hospital.
Neither the Police nor the Nigerian Army has confirmed the incident as calls put across to the Public Relations officers of Six Division Nigerian Army Port Harcourt and Rivers State Police command have not been returned.
