Covid-19: Gov Wike speaks on taking Vaccine, gives details of $1bn fund

The Governor said ahead of the resumption of the international flights in Port Harcourt Airport, the state government will dissolve the tribunal set up to prosecute violators of COVID-19 protocols, if the Federal authorities try to influence outcome of cases.

 

 

Governor Wike said this when he received a delegate of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, led by the National Incident Manager, Doctor Mukhtar Muhammad, at Government House in Port Harcourt.                                                                                                                                         

The Governor said ahead of the resumption of the international flights in Port Harcourt Airport, the state government will dissolve the tribunal set up to prosecute violators of COVID-19 protocols, if the Federal authorities try to influence outcome of cases.

 

 

Governor Wike explained that the $1bn given to the Rivers state government by the PTF is being managed the Commissioner for Health, saying the state government is prepared to account for the funds.                                                                                                                  

On his part; the PTF National Incident Manager, Mukhtar Muhammad, advised the state government to arrange for a hotel that will be used as a health facility and negotiate for a rate that should be affordable to all passengers.
