The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed October 31, 2025, for judgment in a suit seeking to stop the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from holding its national convention.
Justice James Omotosho fixed the date after taking arguments from lawyers representing both sides in the case filed by three aggrieved members of the party.
The plaintiffs — Austin Nwachukwu from Imo State, Amah Abraham Nnanna from Abia State, and Turnah Alabh George from the South-South zone — are asking the court to halt the planned PDP National Convention scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
They alleged that the party violated its constitution by failing to conduct valid congresses in several states before announcing the convention. The suit also listed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the PDP, and several top party officials, including Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, as defendants.
Justice Omotosho had earlier ordered all parties to maintain the status quo pending the final decision of the court.
The outcome of the case will determine whether the PDP proceeds with the convention as planned or makes adjustments to its internal processes.
