The three man-panel of the appeal led by Justice Tani Yusuf-Hassan in a unanimous judgment struck out the appeal after it noticed that there was no notice of appeal in their records.
Correspondent Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that Justice Yusuf-Hassan who read out the Judgment said there was no need to go into the merits of the matter since there is no record of notice of appeal and thereby struck it out.
Speaking to newsmen outside the court, Counsel to Rivers State Government, and RSIEC, Echesina Etiaba, Senior Advocate of Nigeria welcome the Judgment and advised the applicants to go and to participate in the next Council elections.
On his Part, one of the Counsels to the sacked twenty-two Local Government Chairmen, Mike Wodi expressed shock over the Judgment of the appeal court.
The 22 Local Government Chairmen who were elected under the administration of former Governor, Rotimi Amaechi in 2015 but were sacked by Governor Nyesom Wike are asking the court to reinstate them or be paid for three years tenure because they were wrongly removed from office.
