The convicts, Aniekan Sampson And Akaninyene Samuel had on November 3, 2021 vandalized and stolen cables from a Sub-station of the Electricity Distribution Company.
The culprits were sentenced for offences punishable under section 556 sub section 1 of the criminal code Laws of Akwa Ibom State.
The PHED in a statement by its Head, Corporate Communications, John Anonyai, noted that the judgment comes as a relief for the company in the pursuit of justice over the years, adding that it has suffered huge losses in the hands of vandals.
In another development; the PHED has lamented over incessant assault suffered by its staff in the hands of the public and has warned that persons or communities who assault its staff will suffer the consequences stipulated by the organization’s in-house rules and be prosecuted for justice.
This is in reaction to a recent assault that caused severe injuries of a staff of the company, Itoro Essienobom in Uyo, the Akwa ibom State capital.
