Court reserves judgment in Rivers APC leadership dispute

The presiding judge, Justice Sika Aprioku in the last hearing, after listening to arguments and final written addresses from the counsels representing the parties, reserved the judgment for a date to be communicated within forty-eight hours.

According to a court circular, Justice Aprioku announced that the judgment will be delivered virtually at 12 noon tomorrow, August 12, 2024.

He urged the counsels to be punctual and informed them that security will be heightened around the court.

Sam Etetegwung, representing the sacked state executive of the APC, along with Banarth Ezemoye and Ezekiel Ubom for the local government and ward executives, are seeking a judicial interpretation of the APC constitution and Nigerian law regarding their suspension and the subsequent inauguration of the seven-man Caretaker Committee led by Tony Okocha.
