The accused person is the son of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator BALA USMAN, who hails from Bauchi State.
SHAMSUDEEN BALA was arraigned on a fifteen-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, to which he pleaded not guilty and was remanded in Kuje Prison, pending a final ruling on his bail application.
The defence counsel, Chief CHRIS UCHE, pleaded with the court to grant bail to his client, with a promise that he would attend his trial.
But the prosecution lawyer, BEN IKANI, kicked against granting bail to the accused person on the ground that he had declined to surrender his international passport to the EFCC.
After listening to the argument; Justice NNAMDI DIMGBA adjourned the trial till 27th and 28th of March 27, while ruling on the bail application would be decided on Friday this week.
