Court arraigns 4 men in Rivers State for illegal possessions of arms, kidnapping, others

 According to the charge read out in court, Udeme James, Jims Emeka and Lawrence Ogbunwigwe and others now at large were alleged to have on the 29th of April, 2020 within Farm road in Rumuagholu Community in Obio-Akpor area Kidnapped one Nsirim Amadi and demanded one million naira ransom for his release.

 

The suspects are also alleged to have shot at one Chiwendu Orlu on his right leg and equally robbed their victims of of their Iphone, Toyota Camry and other valuables.

 

Chief Magistrate Israel Agbaesor after listening to the charges did not allow the suspects to take their pleas, saying that the court lacks the jurisdiction to prosecute the matter due to the nature of the charges against the suspects.

 

Chief Magistrate, Agbaesor thereby ordered that the case file be transmitted to the Department of Public Prosecution for advise and that the accused be remanded in prison before adjourning to 3rd of February, 2021 for the DPP‘s advise.

 

In the same vein, Chief Magistrate, Israel Agbaesor declined jurisdiction to try one Augustin Friday who was arraigned on three count of armed robbery, attempted murder and stealing.

 

Friday and other now at large are alleged to have on the 27th of August, 2020 stolen a Mini bus and cash worth over one thousand hundred naira, mobile phone belonging to Onyema Onovo at gunpoint along Ada-George Area in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
