State Chairman of the Urban Driver’s Welfare Association, Lekia Isaac in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth questioned the reason for the introduction of the local government ticket, stressing that the unified ticketing introduced by the state government through the Rivers State internal revenue is still functional.
He also decried the high rate of extortion by different authorities in the state.
Lekia who spoke on behalf of commercial drivers expressed fears that the introduction of the new ticket might increase touting and further expose drivers to danger and harassment.
In the meantime; authorities of the Obio-Akpor Local Government Council has denied introducing any new fee for commercial drivers in the area
The Press secretary to the council chairman said anyone with such complaint should come to the secretariat for formal complain and verification.
