Commercial Bus Hijack; Fourteen Passengers Set Free

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of the fourteen passengers in a statement issued by its spokesman, NNAMDI OMONI.

The Police Public Relations Officer said the bus passengers were rescued by men of the Tactical Unit after a diligent operation.

OMONI who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police said no ransom was paid for the release of the abducted bus passengers.

However; an official of ONELGA council told our correspondent that some of the passengers who onboard the council-owned commercial bus were still missing.

Our source claimed that the bus hijackers are demanding the release of their gang members who are being detained by security agencies in Port Harcourt, as well as two million naira ransom for each of the remaining hostages.

Meanwhile; one person has been killed in renewed cult violence within Egbema community in ONELGA.
