The State Commandant of NSCDC, Michael Besong-Ogar made the declaration at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt where he said there is no going back in the arrests and prosecution of pipeline Vandals, Oil thieves and their sponsors.
Commandant of NSCDC, Besong-Ogar said the Command under his watch would continue to pursue the illegal oil bunkerers from their hideouts, dismantle their dumps and prosecute suspects arrested according to the extant laws of the Federation.
The NSCDC boos in a statement by the Public Relations officer, Olufemi Ayodele said out of the sixteen suspects arrested for their involvement in illegal oil dealings, eight of them were arrested by the Rivers State Command’s Anti-vandal land Patrol at different locations across the State.
The statement also disclosed that the Command Anti-vandal land Patrol Team at New road Mgbaraja Ogbogoro Community in Obio-Akpo Local Government Area also impounded two Cars laden with about five drums containing about one thousand two hundred and fifty liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil popularly called diesel.
The Rivers NSCDC Boss further confirmed the taking over from the Nigerian Navy Ship Pathfinder Port Harcourt another eight suspects arrested for illegal dealings in petroleum products while in conveyance of three wooden boats laden with un-quantified liters of diesel and one fibre boat laden with nineteen drums of diesel.
The Rivers State Commandant of NSCDC while commending the Synergy amongst sister security agencies in the state, maintained that effective collaborations and intelligence sharing are solution to combating the menace of Oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
