Presidential spokesman, FEMI ADESINA in a statement said President BUHARI’s participation at this year’s gathering of world leaders, which opened on Tuesday, September 17, is particularly significant as it coincides with Nigeria’s Presidency of the United Nations General Assembly.
You would recall that on June 4, 2019, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Professor TIJJANI MUHAMMAD-BANDE, was unanimously elected as the President of the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, marking the second time Nigeria would be occupying the prestigious position, as late Maj-Gen. JOSEPH NANVEN GARBA also headed the 44th Session of the assembly in 1989.
While in New York, President BUHARI and members of his delegation which consists of some governors, ministers and other top government officials, are expected to participate in the Climate Action Summit, after which they would participate at the Side-Events organized by the country’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
