President BUHARI said since the admission of Nigerian as a member state of the UN in 1960, it has always participated in all efforts to bring about global peace, security and development.

The Nigeria leader promised that the country would continue to support the UN in all its efforts, including the attainment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 

President BUHARI made the commitment in his address at the seventy-second UN General Assembly in New York yesterday.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI also touched on several other issues affecting different parts of the world, including North Korea’s controversial nuclear programme, which he called the most pressing threat to international peace and security.

President BUHARI also informed the world leaders that back home; the Nigerian government was making efforts to strengthen state institutions to enhance accountability, and to combat corruption and facilitate recovery of stolen assets.

He also pledged Nigeria’s cooperation in addressing the growing transnational crimes such as forced labour, modern day slavery, human trafficking and cybercrime.
