President TRUMP used his maiden address to advance the position of his administration on America’s interest first above all else, just as he challenged other world leaders to put their people first.
TRUMP emphasized that working together in close harmony the nations of the world can ensure a safe place for all people.
The US President used the opportunity to slam North Korea over its threats of nuclear attack on the United States, warning that the excesses of the regime in Pyongyang would not be tolerated.
He thanked China and Russia for joining to endorse the latest sanctions against North Korea by the US Security Council.
President TRUMP also talked tough against the Iranian Government, accusing the leaders of threatening the world and impoverishing the life of their people in preference of supporting terrorism.
For radical Islamists; President TRUMP said they must be stopped and countries that support and finance such groups need to be put in check.
TRUMP also announced a change in the US rules of engagement in military operations around the world, which he said would be dictated by American interest and not based on timetables drawn up by politicians.
The American leader did not conclude his address without mentioning Nigeria, but with emphasis on the Boko Haram ravaged North-East region, where the American military are providing assistance for multinational forces
